The 3rd annual Vegan Iron Chef was a huge success!
The evening started off with a reception sponsored by Rainbow Grocery. We had yummy appetizers from Field Roast, Hodo Soy, and a cheese platter with Punk Rawk Labs cheeses and dried fruit by Made in Nature. There were also desserts from Lydia’s Organics and chocolates by Sara Karen.
Round 1 – Home Chef Bijal vs Pro Chef Maria
The two chefs created tacos and after much deliberation the judges voted Bijal to move forward to round 3.
Round 2 – Home Chef Charlie vs Pro Chef Kevin.
After the chefs worked diligently to create delicious sushi rolls, the judges decided that Kevin would be moving forward to round 3 to compete with Home Chef Bijal.
Round 3 was very exciting!
The chefs had no idea what they were going to make until brought back on stage. During this round the chefs had to make spring rolls!!
Our two MC’s, Lisa and Joe rocked the front of the stage while the chefs moved quickly to create delicious vegan dishes. After 3 rounds of being served tacos, sushi, and spring rolls, the three judges crowned chef Kevin Schuder as the Winner of Vegan Iron Chef 2015. Kevin was presented with a Blender from Blendtec on stage when round 3 came to a close. All chefs did an outstanding job in this intense competition.
